Migration is a clinical exercise, not just a technical one
Every record you move carries a decision about patient safety. Legacy systems accumulate duplicates, free-text notes and inconsistent coding that no automated tool can fully resolve on its own.
The trusts that migrate well start early, involve clinicians in mapping decisions, and validate against real cohorts rather than sample rows.
Build a data quality baseline
Measure completeness and accuracy before migration begins, then track the same metrics after. Without a baseline, you cannot prove the new system is safe to use.
